2014 rule changes and new 'Power Units'

Postby andrew » Fri Jan 11, 2013 10:11 pm

2013 will be the last year for engines in F1, because we have the 'Power units' in 2014.

A glimpse of how F1 will change in 2014

2014 rule changes and new 'Power Units'

Postby F1SuperSwede » Fri Jan 25, 2013 6:37 pm

I don't want to be a whiner but I'm not looking forward to the new regs.
I miss the old V10's and the wide cars.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what these engines sound like actually, there's never been anything quite like them in any series before.

I think the base engines will end up more powerful than predicted, which is good... 700bhp from the engine (rather than the predicted 600-650) with 160bhp KERS on top is more powerful than the current engines (aided by that stupid development freeze admittedly).

I miss the V10's too, but there's no going back now in any form of motorsport let alone F1.

Aren't the FIA going to impose a max power on engines? if not we could end up with 1000hp cars when combining engine and KERS. I have to say that I am quite looking forward to the shake up, to see who comes out of top, see who actually brings an engine to the table, will we see Honda back and VAG dipping their toes into the F1 waters?
