So it's the return of the US GP at a brand spanking new circuit.

Discuss.

Is it me or are we being forced to praise this track? Just seems forced. It looks great from the pictures, but there may be quite a bit of field spread. Could mean a dull race.

Then again cold temps and harder, durable tyres may handicap Red Bull this weekend.

...or the exact opposite, apparently. :P

Not sure that we're being forced to like the track, but it seems that a lot of people in the paddock might be. For me, there's some good points, but it's no better than India or Korea in the key areas. Still looks and feels (as much as a viewer can feel) like any other Tilkedrome though.

Onto today's action in quali, was surprised mostly by the pace (or lack thereof) of Alonso and Massa, been trying to figure that one out, and i am not sure that it is tyres, which makes it a tough one to consider. The rest was fairly standard, except for a notable performance by Marussia. I've been badmouthing them a lot in the last 18 months but they look to be making progress generally with a huge leap today on top of these small steps forward in recent times, and good on them for that.

From what I have seen in both qualifying and free practice, I am very impressed by the new circuit. I love the undulation, the sweeping corners and I absolutely ADORE the first corner!

I have my fingers crossed that the race will be good. There is a huge crowd, and it would be a massive shame if were a dull procession. If Vettel is over the hills and far away by the end of lap 1, then I pray there'll be lots going on behind.

I'm a bit underwhelmed by the track so far. The undulating track makes a nice change from the flat tracks and harks back to some of the older style circuits. Hoping for a good race and for Vettel to stay ahead of Alonso.

I think that for a Tilke track it's quite good. I'm a big fan of the elevation, but could they've gone more "Captain America" on the run offs?
Well, I hope that we'll have a great race.

I don't know why but I just couldn't get interested in this race at any point throughout the weekend. Odd.
